Every city has its own style and it gets defined by its architecture and ambiance more than the people…
As a tourist I was visiting Chicago for the second time to rediscover the beauty of this windy city again.
I was blown away by the classic old world charm that this heart of America destination celebrates. Uncluttered, minimalistic and fashionably old-school, I felt Chicago to be the ultimate melting pot of western culture.
There is a happy mix and match of the old and the new as the aesthetic beauty of the heritage structures compliment the contemporary buildings that dot the stunning skyline. But what adds the ‘fairy-tale’ touch to it, is the rare visual delight of natural beauty.
Not just keeping it green, the amazing fall colours of trees change from magenta to crimson to golden and more while the flowers bloom in violets and blues apart from the usual reds and pinks.
The weather felt pleasant too though it got a bit breezy by the Michigan Lake mostly. In fact, this being one of the Great Lakes of the World seemed almost like an ocean to me. The hues of the water blended in a few shades of turquoise and teal to create a picturesque story.
I also enjoyed the relaxed pace of Chicago and specially the sanctum of calmness at Bahai’s House of Worship. Well, there may be more to a place, but every tourist takes back with them what appeals to them as ‘Wow’ during their stay. And this is how I felt post my revisit…
Flavours go beyond food and you can relish a place too by simply feasting your senses with the experience… It is similar to how you select a dish from the menu according to the ingredients that you prefer or wish to try out for the first time. For me, New York has been a destination that I always wanted to visit, having heard about it as a global fashion hub and a glamourous lifestyle avenue so far.
So I thought I knew a bit of what I was about to explore, but like it always happens, the slice of Life tastes quite different. For me, it turned out to be better than expected!

When it comes to food, you would rather want to concentrate on the ‘action’ forgetting about time and place. So I was quite excited to enjoy a European platter in Mumbai itself by being a part of Prego’s food festival ‘Tastes of Europe’.
A specially curated gastronomy experience was designed by the chef himself to create a happy mix and match of the exotic veggies and the non-veg cuisines. I enjoy salads so I started out with a small portion till I wanted to indulge in a bit of pizza. The wafer thin crust made me feel a bit less guilty about the calorie intake and the marinated meat toppings were really lip smacking.
Raising a toast to this sumptuous feast, I chose to sip onto red wine that perfectly complimented this platter. Also, what I really liked about this meal was that it did not leave me with a bloated feel. I personally loved the subtle herbal infusions in the variety of dishes that naturally upgraded the nutritional quotient instead of making it too spicy.
Since Prego at Westin Garden city Mumbai is best known for its Italian specialties, I was happy to see the inclusion of my favourite desserts like Tiramisu and Creme Brulee too.
Those who appreciate food from across the continents would definitely want to drop by to enjoy the tastes of Europe!
