How to do makeup on the go?

Let’s face it, people will always judge you by the way you look. How you present yourself in front of the world makes that wow difference. So why not put an extra effort to do your makeup even when you are on the go?
Getting late is not an option but being pressed for time is neither an excuse to give grooming a pass…
As a smart option, here’s how Bollywood celeb makeup artist Ojas Rajani suggests you keep looking beautiful all day:

IMG_6346-1.jpg
■FACE: A naurally flawless skin is always desired. Now you can create the illusion of the same with a good base. Blend in the concealer and foundation for a seamless finish and touch it up with compact to set the makeup.
▪BEAT THE HEAT: Keep blotting tissues handy. Gently dab the sweat while you are out in the open instead of using wet wipes that remove makeup and make you look patchy.

■ EYES: For the day, keep the eye makeup soft and subtle.
▪CUT SLEEPINESS: with a hint of shimmery pink on the upper lids and inner corners that will open up your eyes beautifully.
▪DARK CIRCLES: Use a colour correcting concealer and add a dash of shine powder.
▪PUFFINESS: Apply an ice cube before you begin makeup.

■LIPS: Apply a lip balm to soften your puckers. Remove the excess and also dead skin with blotting tissues.
▪Use a soft pink lip colour for the day.
▪MEETING READY: Bright lips hold attention as you speak, so define your pout with a warm shade of red that is pretty and not OTT!

2 ways to do the BLUES?

Is there an evergreen colour? Trust me it is B-L-U-E and not black! Well, this dynamic hue offers shades to choose from as per your mood and you can mix and match sky, navy, torquise, midnight and royal blues to define your personal style statement. Also,
it’s a cool colour to wear this summer whether you choose to go funky or feminine.
Here are the two ways to do the blues this season:

☆For Work
-Keep it simple and fuss free with an A-line dress of any length. It can take you from one meeting to another all day, even if you are travelling in this heat.
-Choose a breathable fabric like cotton or linen this season.
-Stripes are in fashion always and you can add a few nautical motifs too.
-As far as accessorising is concerned, keep it functional. A colourful sling bag can add a bit of spunk to even a work attire.

☆For Play
-A crop top, racer back singlet or even a smart t-shirt works. Make sure that it fits you well. Anti-fit styles are fun too when you team them up with fitted bottoms.
-Hot pants are really hot this season but wear the length that makes you feel comfortable.
-For accessories, add a cute bow and carry a back pack that’s trending currently.

And you are good to go…

Dip into Serenity…

The Pantone shades of this year are Serenity and Rose Quards. Spring/ Summer is the best time to sport them not only through your clothes and accessories but also on your nails and toes.
People notice you closely while shaking hands or when you wear peep-toe footwear.
So I went for the special cocktail manicure and pedicure pampering session at The Nail Spa Experience. It made me feel well groomed instantly.

Here’s why you too should try it now:

♡ The hands and feet are the most neglected parts of our body as we pay more importance to our face. So a quick scrub removes the dead cells from the surface, making the skin soft and supple.

♡A brightening mask adds that glow to the  complexion by removing tan as much as possible.

♡ The massage not only relaxes the nerves but also helps in better blood circulation.

♡ The cuticle cream makes the nails stonger as it prepares them for a pretty coat of nail paint.

TIP:
Choose fresh colours like mint, teal, aquamarine that are different shades of Serenity. By doing so, you will stay on trend and look WoW effortlessly!

With the Lakme Fashion Week around the corner, I had experts from the Lakme Absolute salon to showcase two ‘ramp ready’ beauty statements. Here’s why you should try them –these haute looks work perfectly for all face shapes and hair types to bring out the diva in the girl next door!

As the Holi parties continue and Easter is to follow, the Spring/Summer festive mood is getting exciting with each passing day. Here’s your chance to sport them and look WoW! The best part is that you can actually transform your day look to the evening glam with just a few quick tricks.

DIY to beat the heat with them this season:

DAY LOOK
Makeup mantra: Keep it soft and subtle

  • Face: Apply a light foundation and use a concealer if required. Keep the finish dewy instead of matte and try light contouring that works best for the day.
  • Cheeks: Smile and apply an apricot shade of blush to add that instant glow to your complexion.
  • Eyes: Define the outline of the eyes with a smudged liner. Brush out the lashes with loads of mascara to open up the eyes.
  • Lips: Keep the lip colour to a nude shade like pale pink that will balance the look.Hairstyle:
Braids have always been in fashion and adding a sporty edge to it, try the boxer braids now!

DIY: Opt for a deep side parting and using a tail comb, pick up the strands of the hair close to the hair line. Make tight braids that look like trendy cornrows.
Tie a side pony, braid or bun to keep the rest of the hair in place, all day.

You can instantly upgrade the day look to evening glam…

EVENING LOOK

Makeup mantra: Go high on shimmer

  • Face: Mattify the face with blotting tissues and refresh the base with makeup fixing spray. Apply a compact and shine powder to add an instant glow.
  • Cheeks: Sculpt your cheek bones with a warm, feminine colour like pink.
Eyes: Add a dash of shimmer on the eyes lids and the cheeks to accentuate the features by reflecting light.
  • Lips: Define your pout with a vibrant red and add oodles of gloss for a shimmery finish.Hairstyle:

Side swept styles are always red-carpet chic and create the illusion of volume instantly!

DIY: Keep the boxer braids on and simply open up the hair such that the length falls over one shoulder. Use your fingers to comb out the tangles and frizz.

Gear up for a Fruitilicious Summer

While body types are often described as apple, pear or banana shaped, you can now take a cue from the colourful juices or fruity mocktails that quench your thirst and boost your style quotient at the same time.

Take a break from the overdone florals or botanical motifs to try the fruit inspired ensembles instead. Go fruitilicious and refresh your wardrobe this season with vibrant colours and fun motifs from the fruit platter itself!

Here’s how to do it:

COLOURS:
The world of fruits are vibrant and you can indulge in strawberry pink, cherry red, green pear, lime yellow and similar shades that catch your fancy. These are some of the youthful tones to opt for when you think monochrome.

PRINTS: Sport cute micro prints of a fruit that you like or go for a mix and match of all the colourful ones from your platter now. Avoid big prints as they are too in-your-face obvious and OTT as well.

SILHOUETTES: Team up a fitted top with an anti-fit bottom or go the reverse way, keeping in mind your body type.

p

CHEAT SHEET:

To LOOK INSTA SLIM: It’s a given that you would wish to camouflage the fat bulge if you have any, so hide it with a flowy silhouette. Accentuate the other half with a well fitter drape to work a haute contrast.

To LOOK INSTA TALL: A solid colour bottom adds height. Opt for length and flare.

Give sunkissed hair a miss

Hair makeovers are fun only when you dare to try sometging new. I was bored wearing the golden highlights so far and decided to give a miss to the sunkissed hue this summer.
Ambika Bhatia, Art Director at JUICE salon Phoenix Market City Kurla created this haute hair fashion statement for me and I simply found it WoW!

Here’s what she did:

♡ CUT
Challenge: My last hair cut had grown out but I still wanted to keep the length.

Fix: She added choppy layers with side bangs to frame the face and add volume.

PhotoGrid_1458492837616

♡ COLOUR

Challenge: Indian hair is dark naturally and I needed pre-lighting to get the desired look.

Fix: She gave me magenta red which is an evergreen shade of haircolour  and is always in vogue. This shade has been a rage across the fashion runways and sported by Hollywood divas like Rihana and Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif recently.

♡STYLE

Challenge: I am always on the go and don’t know how to wear my hair in style effortlessly.

Fix: Dual tones have always added a wow factor. So the Obmrè finish makes the look haute and sexy at the same time. I can keep it open, tie a pony or braid it the way I wish.

Let me know what you think of my new hair cut and colour 🙂
