If you have the passion for FASHION then the ramp of Pune will have the same appeal for you as Paris!
The recently concluded 6th edition of the Pune Fashion Week presented by BVLGARI, was a two-day extravaganza that lived up to the expectations of fashion lovers like me.
Here are some fashion and beauty trends that I spotted. What makes them ‘WoW’ is that they can be flaunted in real life as well.
♡ Style Quotient
#BEST OF DAY ONE
☆Designer: Pledging for the noble cause of supporting the education of a girl child, designer Priya Kataria Puri showcased an amazing collection called ‘Pura Vida’ in association with the NGO Smile Foundation.
☆The WoW elements: With effortless style, elegance and femininity incorporated in every silhouette, the new styles of maxi kaftans, off shoulder and cold shoulder pieces, jumpsuits, palazzos, dresses, tops, blouses and rompers were in pure Italian silk.
The colour palette was kept to warm earthen shades of burgundy, yellow, red, black, off-white, olive and leaf green.
☆Ramp to Real: This Indo-western line is ideal for the upcoming festive season, as it offers the scope to mix and match and play around with the ensemble.
☆Designer: All that Glitters from Kara by Designer Kanchan Kulkarni was a tribute to its Indian roots in western silhouettes.
☆The WoW elements: Like the name suggests, the collection is a blend of silks mixed with tulle and lace and fused with shimmer and beads to stay true to its name. The elegant colour palette of whites, golds and blacks have a minimalistic yet glamorous appeal.
☆Ramp to Real: Perfect as an evening party wear.
☆Designer: capsule collection “Ritz” by Designer Nitya Bajaj and “The Pink Mosque” by Designer Sharad Raghav were interesting creations.
☆The WoW elements: Showcasing the rich pearls, elegant Swarovski crystals, the delicate lace and beadwork on rich Indian silks.
Ramp to Real: The collections rope in glamour quite effortlessly and are a must-have occasion wear.
☆Designer: ‘Serenity’ was a unique collection uveiled by veteran designer Ashok Maanay.
☆The WoW elements: The drapes of six yards of pure fabrics like silk , crepes , georgettes and chiffon embellished with Zari borders woven by the few Heritage weavers of Varanasi, looked royal. The bright colours beautifully blended in with the exotic hand crafted designs.
☆Ramp to Real: The chanderi cotton Aachkans and Aangharakhaas with embellishments are eloquent festive wear options.
BEST OF DAY TWO
☆Designer: The grand finale was a grand affair. Capturing the poetic elegance and the romanticism of the Shakespearean era, couturier Nivedita Saboo showcased her new collection ‘Circa 2016‘. Mr. World Rohit Khandelwal was her showstopper.
☆The WoW elements: Inspired by the theatrical brilliance of the English Renaissance, the British bride and her groom looked classy.
Some of the myriad glistening colours of frosty English evenings were paired with varied heritage techniques and regally elaborate silhouettes.
From impeccably constructed corsets and royal sherwanis, avant-garde lehengas, versatile gowns in classic Indian silhouettes, had the designer’s signature techniques of pleating, appliqué work and quilting.
☆Ramp to Real: Nivedita Saboo’s Autumn Winter 2016 line is a fine, classy blend of rich heritage and modern fashion. Every attire is a stylish piece designed keeping in mind destination weddings as well.
The ruffles and drapes, in frozen lavender, rose quartz, old rose, celtic, moonshine grey, sage green, tigerlilly peach, salmon to scarlet shades, redefine the wedding wear palette…
☆Designer: Bangladesh Designer Bibi Russell showcased her collection inspired by Mahatma Gandhi as a tribute to Gandhi-ji and the crafts people of Rajasthan.
☆The WoW elements: The collection was made with incredible products of Rajasthan to support the fine artisans and craftspeople, to preserve their heritage and improve, innovate and help them sustain a better livelihood.
☆Ramp to Real:
The old world charm of heritage fabric matched with vibrant colours, makes every piece showcase the flavours of Rajasthan.
Hair and Makeup show by Zara made creative fantasies of students walk the ramp. It almost felt like Halloween parade!
☆The WoW elements: Students paraded their creations down the catwalk with themes like – Universe, Snow Flakes, Dark Fantasy, Metallic Beauty, Flutter Beauty, Chess Look, Gemstones, Aqua, Ice Princess and English Candle.
☆Ramp to Real:
From the overall shows,the makeup and hair complemeted the outfits. Also, they are not over-powering and do not take away the attention from the designs.
Straight hair was back in vogue with slight variations like a pony tail or a braid at the most.
Living up to the effortless glam quotient, the makeup was minimalistic, soft smoky eyes with defined eyeliner teamed up perfectly with rosy pouts in pink, peach, corals and reds.
